“A Republic, if you can keep it.” – Benjamin Franklin

The past year has been a very educational experience about the importance of engaging in our local and state government. This became most painfully clear when dealing with our local Sarasota County School Board regarding mask mandates and their push for Critical Race Theory. I have always considered Sarasota County to be very conservative, and for the most part it is, yet while many conservatives weren’t really paying enough attention, certain parts of our local government have been infiltrated by liberal activists who seem to have no regard for our constitutional republic form of government. The way that some of these “elected” officials (I have serious questions about the legitimacy of our newest School Board member- a recent transplant from New York) see their roles is as that of a dictator. They do not care that our taxes pay for the schools. They do not listen to us at the board meetings. They treat us with absolute contempt and disrespect. One of our school board members, Shirley Brown, is actually quoted as saying “Parents do not have the encompassing right to raise their child.” That is what these liberals believe and that is how they are going about OUR business. This is only one example of the liberal disease that has begun to infect our beautiful city of Sarasota.

The blessing in this storm is that this experience has been so shocking to citizens that it has inspired more engagement.

We have all just experienced a rude awakening. While conservatives make up the majority of Sarasota County, the minority on the left has outmaneuvered us in the area of community organizing. However, the left underestimated all of us. What was meant to take us down has only brought us together. What was meant to destroy our country from the inside out, has only guided us back to our founding principles and the strength of our Constitution. Now, we are organizing and we are ready to unite to restore American values to our beloved Sarasota community.  We can accomplish this by taking meaningful action as a united front.

Our Top 3 Priorities:

ELECTIONS: Helping constitutional conservatives get in place for 2022, encouraging voter registration & turnout for the primary and general elections, lobbying our state legislature for greater election integrity.

LOCAL ENGAGEMENT: Educating the public about how our local and state government works, keeping everyone up to date on important legislation, and recruiting conservatives to engage in our local government, school board, city and county commissions. Uniting the various local groups behind a strategic and impactful action plan.

LOCAL BUSINESSES: Leveraging the power of the purse to support local businesses that respect our individual liberties. It seems that in order to stop others from trying to impose their health care opinions and political ideology on the rest of us, we need to address our local businesses. We need to support business that support the rights of all citizens to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We need to apply pressure to and boycott those businesses that do not support American values.

Over the past year, many people begrudgingly wore masks even though they do not believe that wearing them was in their best interest. Many did so to avoid conflict and because they didn’t want to be harassed in stores. While masks may seem like a small issue to some, in the grand scheme of things, it is a slippery slope. We are already seeing the anticipated progression of this in the proposal of vaccine ID’s. We are also seeing a glimpse of the federal government’s strategy to force compliance through the use of corporate monopolies. This is also happening in our community in many of our local businesses, which is something reminiscent of Nazi Germany. One only needs to observe China’s behavior to see how this would eventually play out if left unchecked: digital currency, social credit scores…the end of America as we know it. WE must put a stop to it now.

In the coming weeks, we will continue to develop this website to provide important information about our school board, local & state government issues/legislation, along with actionable steps and resources for those who don’t have hours each day to keep up with everything. This site will eventually also include a searchable local business directory to help Sarasotans make informed purchasing decisions that support businesses who, in turn, support American values.
